ANNUAL REPORT – SHADOW bOARD 2012-2013

Director of Adult Social Care, Health & Housing

1          PURPOSE OF REPORT

1.1       For the Board to receive a report of principal decisions made and issues influenced by the Board whilst operating in shadow form over the period 2012-2013.

2          RECOMMENDATION(S)

2.1       That the Board approves the Annual Report

3          REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION(S)

3.1       The preparation of an annual report is not a statutory requirement. However, members of the Bracknell Forest Health and Wellbeing Board agreed from the early establishment of the Board that a report should be prepared and made publicly available to:

a.    provide clarity on the role of the Board as a new body

b.    demonstrate accountability as a public body

c.     identify decisions that have been taken and discussions that have been had which have directly or indirectly influenced outcomes affecting the health and wellbeing of local people

4          ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED

4.1       None.  However, the Board should note that as best practice emerges, the format and content of any future document may be set out in future regulations by the Secretary of State for Health.

5          SUPPORTING INFORMATION

5.1       The Annual Report is set out in Appendix A.
